This is the entrance to the Burggaststätten Festung Marienberg in Würzberg, Germany. If the first gates were breached during an attack, there wasn’t a straight sight into the castle which was a great protection against arrows and other projectiles. On top of that there is a small hole in the ceiling to poor boiling oil onto the attackers. In contrast to this harsh history someone was playing pop songs on an accordion right behind the corner.
